RAPID-FIRE Q/A
Three words to describe you? Energetic, compassionate, inquisitive

What was your first arts "aha" moment, including how old were you? I have been painting and drawing since before I can remember, but when I was 12, I took an art class in my middle school and learned how to paint with real watercolors. I loved the flowing delicate colors and the versatility of the medium. I still love it to this day.

Why are you a teaching artist? When I was in elementary school, I had several arts-integrated classes which are still so vivid in my mind. I love art, I love science, and most of all I love teaching.

In five words or less, why do you love your art form? It connects you to your world.

Finish the sentence: "Because of Arts Ed..." I can spread love, joy, and knowledge with others.

What does success look like during your residency? During my residency, success is kids learning that drawing isn’t just an “art” it’s a form of communication that is a critical tool for life. I want them to really see the world around them, and make an honest attempt at communicating it to others.

What’s an important life skill you gained through the arts? Critical observation

Who is an artist that changed your life? My Uncle Chris, an architect

If you were entering a talent show, what would be your specific talent? I know a funny song called “Don Gato” that is a crowd pleaser wherever I go

Do you have a secret (or not so secret) obsession? Bubble tea
