RAPID-FIRE Q/A
Three words to describe you? Honest, hopeful, creative
What was your first arts "aha" moment, including how old were you? 1.) 6th grade elementary school band performing Louie, Louie for the whole school. I got to play ensemble parts and solo and I felt like a rockstar. I loved the combination of creating with an ensemble while getting to improvise and express myself.
Why are you a teaching artist? So students feel empowered to listen, connect, create and express individually and together. So students keep creating new music!
In five words or less, why do you love your art form? Community, expression, groove, art in real time, listening
Finish the sentence: "Because of Arts Ed..." we get to experience collaboration.
What does success look like during your residency? Listening, creating, grooving to the music
What’s an important life skill you gained through the arts? Collaboration
Who is an artist that changed your life? Kristen Strom
If you were entering a talent show, what would be your specific talent? Trombone
Do you have a secret (or not so secret) obsession? Rivers, creeks, bodies of water
