BACKGROUND
Art Form: Drama/Theatre
Experience: Actor and Director. Studied Lecoq Physical Theater in London. 8 years working as full-time instructor and director at Interact Center, developing plays with adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Recently teaching online and developing online plays with teens and adults with disabilities. Received a grant to learn to provide theater instruction to adults with Alzheimers.

Three words to describe you? Thoughtful, playful, equalizer

What was your first arts "aha" moment, including how old were you? I was 25 and in school in Europe. During an improv using a full-expressive mask, the teacher stopped me. "No, no, no!" they yelled. "You started to think- did you feel that? Your body knew what to do and your critical thinking stopped it." From then on, I had an entirely new perspective on what it meant to fully embody a character onstage.

Why are you a teaching artist? I wish for all people to understand their importance and realize their creative potential.

In five words or less, why do you love your art form? Theater creates communal understanding.

Finish the sentence: "Because of Arts Ed..." Because of Arts Ed, I saw my first play when I was a teenager, and I knew wanted to learn how to do that!

What does success look like during your residency? Learning to work together and create form.

What’s an important life skill you gained through the arts?  Learning to trust myself.
