Three words to describe you? Dedicated, driven, compassionate

What was your first arts "aha" moment, including how old were you? When I was about 15 years old I choreographed my first solo on myself for my dance company. I immediately knew that not only did I want to dance forever, but that I wanted to create art for the world to relate to. This natural love that I had for dance allowed me to feel the emotions I wanted to feel and tell my story that could reach any audience.

Why are you a teaching artist? I feel that movement is such an important part of individualism in growing up. Dance changed my life in the best way possible and regardless of how serious you are within the art, it helps with self expression, relationships, and communication.

In five words or less, why do you love your art form? It's a universal language.

Finish the sentence: "Because of Arts Ed..." I found who I was supposed to be and knew exactly how I wanted to be that.

What does success look like during your residency? Success is something that cannot be measured easily in dance because sometimes trying to move is scary for students who have never done it before. If they learn something new, sweat a little bit, and walk out of class with a smile, that is the success I am looking for.
