Soundscape and Movement: Using Movement to Tell the Story of an Ecosystem (river, prairie, hydrothermal, glacial systems, rainforests, etc) - Jennifer Corbin
We use our senses to connect with the world, to inform and educate about the world around us. In this residency, students use body movement to interpret a river soundscape or other ecosystem. After listening to a recording of the Blackfoot River, students identify the different sounds - flowing water, moving rocks, swimming fish, skipping mayflies, and maybe even a passing car - and create a vignette or short interpretive movement that represents this soundscape. This residency can be adapted to any natural system.
